NEC's Walkthrough Face Recognition System was installed the Tokyo 2020 Japan House, set up in Rio during the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.The system was used to manage the entry of members of the media to a press conference.

NEC actively conducts staff volunteer and hospitality training programmes as part of its efforts to contribute to the creation of a new culture for the year 2020 and beyond, and to realise a diverse society. The company was delighted to receive a prize in the Corporate Category of the Tokyo Metropolitan Awards for Contribution to the Creation of a Mutually Cooperative Society, an initiative organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to recognise sustained and advanced hospitality activities by companies and organisations.

Athletes from the NEC Red Rockets, NEC's women's volleyball team, and the NEC Green Rockets, NEC's men's rugby team, hold a children's sports class. This initiative is being conducted across the whole of Japan and aims at the widespread promotion of sport.

Challenge for Tomorrow Academy - a cooperative support programme

NEC holds in-house seminars as part of its cooperation and support for the Challenge for Tomorrow Academy, organised by the Paralympic Support Centre. This educational programme aims at raising awareness by inviting people with impairments to speak about the challenges they face in everyday life, organising group study and brainstorming sessions, and seeks to realise an inclusive society. The programme currently has some 100,000 supporters.
