Purpose of the Sponsorship Programme

The Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme is being conducted for the purposes and with the goals shown below. Games' Sponsors will contribute to a richer future for Japan and the world through a wide variety of measures, including contributing to the efficient administration and delivery of the Games, and programmes aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes.

Purposes/Goals. Purposes1 To secure funds for administration and delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Games, Purposes2 To further enhance the Olympic and Paralympic brands, Purposes3 To promote the Olympic Movement and Paralympic Movements, Purposes4 To improve the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes. Goals1 Maximise total marketing income→Allocate to Games administration and delivery expenses, and to programmes aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes, Utilisation of Rights by Partners, Goals2 Promote the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, Raise marketing value through rights activation.

Sponsorship Structure

The structure of the Olympic Marketing Programme consists of The Worldwide Olympic Partners, which are positioned at the pinnacle of the structure managed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Directly beneath the The Worldwide Olympic Partners are local sponsors of each National Olympic Committee (NOC) and Games' sponsors of the Organising Committee of Olympic Games (OCOG).
The IOC tasks the host city with establishing a "joint marketing" structure to ensure the success of the Olympic Games. The Tokyo 2020 Marketing Programme involves the JOC transferring its Olympic-related marketing assets (logos, designations and other Olympic imagery licensed from the IOC) to the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, which in turn has the right to permit the use of these Olympic-related assets to prospective Games' Sponsors.

The Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme commences on 1 January 2015, after conclusion of the Sponsorship Agreement, and runs until 31 December 2020. The programme consists of three separate categories (Tiers 1, 2 and 3).

Sponsorship Structure. The Worldwide Olympic Partners, Tier1 Tokyo 2020 Gold Partner(Tokyo 2020 Sponsors), Tier2 Tokyo 2020 Official Partner(Tokyo 2020 Sponsors), Tier3 Tokyo 2020 Official Supporter(Tokyo 2020 Sponsors).

∗ Participants in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme require to sponsor both the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020

Sponsor Rights

As specified in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Programme, Games' Sponsors are permitted to use the below properties. Through their involvement in the sponsorship programme, Games' Sponsors will be able to contribute to the efficient administration and delivery of the Games, and the improvement of the international competitiveness of Japanese athletes.

Right to supply products and services
Right to use Game-related goods, etc. as premiums
Right to promote products and services on-site
Right to use related materials
Movies and still images of past Olympic and Paralympic Games
Movies and still images of past Japanese Olympic and Paralympic athletes
